October 2025 marked the safest month for cryptocurrency security this year, with total losses from hacks and exploits plummeting 85.7% to $18.18 million across 15 incidents. This starkly contrasts with September's $127.06 million in stolen funds, according to blockchain security firm PeckShield.

The month's three major breaches dominated the losses. Garden Finance suffered an $11 million exploit due to a solver compromise on October 30. Typus Finance lost $3.4 million through oracle manipulation, while Abracadabra endured its third exploit this year, losing $1.8 million.

Despite the improved security metrics, experts warn the decline may be temporary. North Korea-backed hackers are reportedly developing sophisticated new tactics to embed malicious code directly into blockchain networks.

October also saw unprecedented market volatility. The October 10 crash erased over $20 billion in Leveraged positions within hours—the largest single liquidation event in crypto history.
